Chokchai 4 House was born from the family’s need for increased usable space alongside a desire for privacy. The original home, limited in area, no longer met their diverse spatial requirements, leading to the purchase of additional land and the construction of a new residence.
Faced with a constrained site and diverse functional needs, the architect proposed a vertical design—a three-story house—to maximize usable space upwards. The design emphasizes a variety of common spaces, thoughtfully distributed in location, function, and spatial connectivity both horizontally and vertically. This approach allows family members to freely use shared areas while maintaining individual privacy.
Given the house’s urban setting amidst a bustling environment, the design adopts an inside view concept. The exterior is designed as a closed façade to enhance privacy, while interior openness is maximized through a central courtyard and rear garden, inviting natural light, ventilation, and greenery deep into the home.
The house accommodates multiple generations, including elderly residents, placing special emphasis on safe and convenient circulation. The staircase is designed to be wide and gently sloped, complemented by an elevator connecting all floors, ensuring that every member can access all areas of the house independently and comfortably.
