Baan Phanu is a multi-family home passed down through generations, where several siblings and their families live under one roof. The recent renovation was initiated to resolve long-standing issues with the original structure—roof leaks, birds nesting under the eaves, and insufficient space for shared family activities.
A key directive from the homeowner was to preserve and reuse as much of the original materials as possible, including timber windows, staircases, second-floor flooring, and wardrobe doors. These elements carry the memory of their late father, who originally built the house. This sentimental value shaped the architectural approach, aiming to retain the emotional essence of the old house while adapting it to present-day needs.
Rather than fully replacing the existing structure, the renovation blends the original with the new in carefully considered proportions. The result is a home that honors its past—both materially and emotionally—while accommodating a growing family and the evolving ways they live together.
